Dear Councillor Edwards

Thank you for your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding Halal Meals in Schools received on 09 December 2010.

We have considered your request and enclose the following information:

Please note that the information below relates to catering outlets within schools as opposed to the number of schools.

School catering outlets serving Halal alongside non Halal – 23

School catering outlets serving Halal only – 2

School catering outlets serving no Halal – 99

The Muslim Council of Wales has advised Cardiff Catering that there is no need to specially label Halal foods.
.
However, catering staff have the knowledge to advise customers, which foods on offer are Halal certified and a pack of Halal certificates is available for inspection in all schools which serve Halal foods.
.
Yours Sincerely

Judith Gregory

If Muslims have to practise Halal slaughter then go and practise it in any number of Islamic countries.
.
Just don't do it in Britain.

"This is another instance of our politically correct government putting the interests of the vocal minority ahead of those of the indigenous majority.
